Bass Coast Shire Council is using an innovative method to renew a 300 metre length of street in the municipality.
Council says Matthew Street in Wonthaggi, between Broome Crescent and Stewart Street will be resealed by recycling the existing road surface.
“Up to 100% of the existing surface can be recycled, which is cost effective, keeps waste out of landfill and reduces greenhouse emissions by over 50%,” Council said in a statement.
“It also leads to faster construction times and results in a high quality finish.”
Construction works are expected to start this week and will take up to two weeks to complete.
This $175,000 project is funded by the Federal Government’s Roads to Recovery Program and is part of Council’s 2021/22 Capital Works Program.
The works will include over 300 metres of road pavement renewal, road sealing works, line marking and other associated road infrastructure works.
