Australian Govt delivers first EV network charger

The Australian Government, in partnership with the NRMA, has delivered the first fast electric vehicle charging station as part of the National EV Charging Network.

The new charger is located in Mudgee, in regional NSW.

“This is an important milestone in our plan to build 117 fast EV charging stations across the country,” the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water said in a statement.

The pair of ultrafast 180kW chargers located just off the Castlereagh Highway are compatible with all EVs on sale today and could top up Australia’s most popular EVs from 20 to 80 per cent battery charge in around 30 minutes, the Department said.

The new charger is part of the $500 million Driving the Nation Fund, and includes $39.3 million from the government matched by the NRMA to deliver the National EV Charging Network.

The Government says the network will connect towns and cities from one side of Australia to the other and give drivers more confidence in buying an EV.
