Albury City Council has announced a new inclusive sport partnership to help build a local environment where sport is accessible for people of all abilities.
The Council has signed an 18-month partnership with Sport4All to strengthen inclusive practices across the city’s sporting landscape.
Sport4All is a nationwide partnership between the Australian Government, the Australian Sports Commission and Get Skilled Access, the consultancy of Paralympian, Dylan Alcott AO (pictured, above). The program supports councils, clubs and schools to build systems where everyone, regardless of ability, can participate, belong and thrive.
The partnership has recently seen the appointment of Marnie Shannon (pictured, below) as the city’s new Sports Inclusion Coach.
Over the next 18 months, Ms Shannon will work with schools, sporting clubs and community organisations across Albury to deliver practical training, mentoring, and resources that make inclusion part of everyday sport.

She has a strong background in disability education and community sport, alongside her long-standing involvement in racquetball as a coach and junior program coordinator in Wodonga.
“Sport is for everyone, no matter their ability,” Ms Shannon said.
“Inclusion isn’t just access – it’s creating spaces where all abilities are valued and celebrated. I’m excited to work alongside local clubs and schools to remove barriers and make inclusion a natural part of sport in our region.”
Mayor, Kevin Mack said Ms Shannon’s appointment reflects Council’s commitment to an inclusive and connected community.
“Sport plays a powerful role in bringing people together,” Mayor Mack said.
“Through the Sport4All program, we’re making sure that everyone in the Albury Local Government Area, including people with disability, has the opportunity to participate, contribute and experience the benefits of local sport.”
The Sport4AAll program will offer:
- Free resources, training and mentoring for clubs and schools;
- Practical steps to increase participation for people with disability;
- Support to build stronger, more welcoming sporting communities.
