Albury City Council has confirmed the appointment of Steve McGrath as its interim Chief Executive Officer.
Mr McGrath (pictured) has been appointed to the role for a period of between three to 12 months while recruitment and appointment of a permanent CEO is undertaken.
Mayor, Kevin Mack welcomed the appointment of Mr McGrath and the opportunity to work collaboratively on Council’s priorities for Albury.
“Steve McGrath brings more than 30 years’ experience as a General Manager and CEO across NSW councils and is well regarded for his strong local government knowledge, strategic leadership, governance and finance capabilities,” Mayor Mack said.
“Steve will support our senior leaders in delivering a renewed leadership focus to support our organisational priorities and navigate the delivery of key programs and projects.”
The Mayor also thanked Council’s senior leadership team, led by Acting Chief Executive Officer, Gael Evans-Barr, for its work in assisting Mr McGrath to transition to the interim CEO role.
He also noted that Councillors continue to have confidence in the organisation’s governance, financial oversight and budget development processes.
“Council’s focus on financial sustainability and the community we serve will continue with a renewed focus,” he said.
