Councillor, Ian Bye, was today elected for his second consecutive term as Mayor of Wellington Shire, with John Tatterson from Stratford elected Deputy Mayor.
Both were elected unopposed.
Councillor Bye was born and raised in Sale and was first elected to Council in 2016, now serving his second term as a Wellington Shire councillor.
Cr Bye extended a heartfelt thanks to his fellow councillors for their support as he steps into a second term as Mayor.
“Thank you to my fellow councillors and the Wellington community for their support during my first mayoral term,” he said.
“I have had a wonderful and busy first term as Mayor, having particularly enjoyed the many opportunities to get out and about to celebrate local events that have been on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I am looking forward to focusing on housing, investment and infrastructure in my second term to encourage growth in our community.”
Councillor Tatterson thanked outgoing Deputy Mayor, Cr Marcus McKenzie, and said he was looking forward to the next phase of his journey as a Wellington Shire councillor.
“Thank you to my fellow councillors, CEO David Morcom and senior officers for their support over the last 12 months. We all work really well together, and it is a privilege to be doing such important work for our community,” Cr Tatterson said.
“I am looking forward to getting to work closely with the local community and feel privileged to be able to represent the ratepayers who voted for me 12 months ago” Cr Tatterson said.
“I am looking forward to a successful partnership with Cr Bye and my fellow councillors as we continue tackling issues that are important to our local communities.”
