Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Bilal El-Hayek has teamed up with the Bulldogs to bring smiles to disadvantaged kids this Christmas.
Mayor El-Hayek was joined by Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs players at Belmore Sports Ground to kick off this year’s Mayoral Toy Drive with a generous donation of footballs and stuffed toys.
The Mayoral Christmas Toy Donation Drive aims to spread Christmas cheer to children and families doing it tough, by collecting donations for local charities and not-for-profit organisations.
Mayor El-Hayek said the sad reality is there are thousands of kids who will go without presents this year.
“Local families are really feeling the pinch, struggling to pay their bills and the idea of buying gifts will be overwhelming for many,” Mayor El-Hayek said.
“The holiday season should be a time of joy and we want to help out by putting presents under trees for families in need.”
Mayor El-Hayek thanked the Bulldogs for their support and encouraged everyone to join the team in giving what they can.
“A small donation to our Toy Drive could help put a smile on a child’s face this Christmas.”
The 2024 Mayoral Christmas Toy Donation Drive is accepting donations of new and unwrapped children’s toys and items at Bankstown and Campsie Customer Service Centres and Bankstown and Campsie Library and Knowledge Centres until Wednesday 11 December.
Items that will be accepted include:
- Arts and craft supplies
- Beach towels, hats, sunglasses and sunscreen
- Toys, books and stationery
- Gift cards and vouchers
