The Federal Government has today announced it will invest $33 million in two new urban projects aimed at boosting tourism and assisting local amenity in Adelaide.
The two projects will be funded under the Government’s urban Precincts and Partnerships Program (uPPP), which provides transformative investment in urban precincts that grow economies and support local communities.Â
Over $26 million will go towards the construction of a new Family Health and Wellbeing Hub in Elizabeth Vale to support residents of Adelaide’s northern suburbs. The Hub will feature community spaces, education and health services, and short-term residential accommodation for new mothers. Led by the Women’s & Children’s Hospital Foundation Inc., the project is a community partnership supported by the City of Playford Council, Flinders University, and the South Australian Government.Â
“Elizabeth Vale’s new Hub will provide equitable access to healthcare and social services whilst promoting sustainable urban development,” said Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government Minister, Catherine King.Â
Almost $7 million will go towards a new arts and culture facility in Glenside to revitalise the south Adelaide precinct for visitors and locals alike.
The project will deliver a multi-use cultural facility featuring studios and galleries, a First Nations artist residential studio, educational spaces, a native edible garden and a social enterprise cafĂ©. Led by the Adelaide Central School of Art, the project is supported by partners including the Ananguku Arts and Cultural Aboriginal Corporation and the South Australian Government.Â
“Our investments are building better urban places for people across South Australia with new community facilities that create new opportunities,” said Minister King.
